hand coated platinum palladium prints on Arches paper 30x40cm
The "Amsterdam Inside" work is the result of wandering in the secrets of Amsterdam. A city in which Melanie Jane Frey took refuge to emphasize moments of solitude and reflection. As in a mirror, the photographer finds emotions that echo her feelings. She revels there to seize images that transcend these moments of initmacy. In an urban landscape, a street scene, shadows and shapes, the images Melanie Jane Frey proposed invite us to experience the joy of a simple contemplation of what surrounds us in a place we are most inspired with. A contemplation that turns out to be primarily an adventure. Like a dream that never runs out ... Palladium / platinum printing was invented in 1873 by William Willis. The process produces photographs of unrivaled beauty and permanence. Basically, Mélanie-Jane Frey creates an image print by coating with brushes a light sensitive solution containing platinum onto Arches Platine paper, then she makes a final size digital negative. The print and negative are then exposed together via the contact method using an ultra violet light source. The process is completed with a bath with Potassium Oxalate developer, a clearing stage and a meticulous wash of the prints. Print Purchase: Handmade original prints are available in 17x17 cm and 26x26cm sizes, each unique and sent with one artist proof.
